  1. Hi Sue,
    They are not sealed, because they are lacto-fermented, naturally acidic and should be refrigerated to slow the fermentation down. It’s totally safe to eat even though it leaked. It’s bubbling because its a live food that with a lid on at room temperture for prolonged periods may leak. My guess is that it didn’t go into the fridge when you took it home. I direct my staff to mention that to new customers, but sometimes that doesn’t happen. My apologies! Please come back on 3/23 to replace them if you like, otherwise, feel free to eat them as they pose no harm. I know it’s hard to believe since we’re so used to heat treated products and dangers with them not being sealed properly.
